Day 27: The Steak Dinner

Auntie decided to go out for dinner tonight, so we went to this restaurant that had steak and eat all you can everything else. It was a happy evening until Uncle started talking about how the older little brother (3 years younger than me) is irresponsible for being unreachable and not coming home last night. (Why does this sound so familiar) Since the older little brother works in that restaurant during the weekends when he's on break from the military, Uncle started asking the other employees about his son. It was a bit scary because it felt like he was scolding the employees. I can't even imagine what could happen if he really does come home and Uncle gets mad at him. Auntie, little brother and I just kept exchanging glances the entire time.

I now have a favorite neighbor! She and her husband are both retired so she has a lot of free time. She comes by from time to time to help out or bring more customers and sends food she personally makes from time to time. I must be really bored because back in Manila, I don't even talk to my neighbors.

Next time I'll ask her to teach me how to make the sauce!

The past few days have been busy as well. I've always wondered why Uncle keeps calling the customers "Boss" or "President/CEO" until I realized that they do seem to be big shot people. Some of them can speak English pretty well, which I think is something among the older generation. They drive really nice cars, dress in branded clothes, play golf and send their children abroad to study. At least I get to take a break from struggling speaking in Chinese from time to time.

Almost a month, and still alive! ^^

Yun Hai Love~ ^^
