Day 7: Eating Sinigang with Chopsticks

It was my first time to cook real sinigang. I've tried it once when I was in Korea, but I wasn't able to find all the ingredients there, so it doesn't count. I watched some how-to videos, so I felt kind of confident that I could pull it off. But when I gathered the ingredients, I realized that I did not know how to prepare them. I wasn't sure which parts of the kangkong and sitaw I was supposed to take out, and I just guessed how to chop the other ingredients. I'm the type of person who would Google "How to make hardboiled eggs" and "How to peel a potato", but because I was in a hurry to prepare dinner, I just had to pretend that I knew what I was doing. It also didn't help that little brother "who can cook well" was watching me with curious eyes. Besides a taro --> potato misunderstanding, I think everything else went well. Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you, my first sinigang! *applause*
It looks and tastes like homecooked sinigang!
I think it was too sour for their taste, but the family ate it anyway. Woohoo!
The adobo on the other hand, wasn't flavorful enough. I should've marinated it longer, or put in less water.

Chicken adobo with chicken feet! HAHA

Auntie had another class, this time at the Buddhist Temple. They made us do breathing exercises. I could only understand around 70% of what the teacher was saying, so it sounded something like this: "Slowly breathe in and lift your hands like this... so that _________. Rub your hands together and put it on your _________." I kept imagining subtitles coming out whenever they made us close our eyes. I wonder if I'll be able to feel more at peace if I join more of these classes.

I also had a little shopping spree at the supermarket~
