This family LOVES durian, and they let me try some last night (It was from Thailand though, boo!). I couldn't even remember the last time I ate it. When I go back, I'll try to find a way to send them a box of durian from the Philippines! I'm starting to get less awkward with the youngest brother as we've spent more time talking over the weekend. He also brought home yummy pastries when he came home yesterday~ The older brother hasn't been around much as he works at some steak house all day.
I'm starting to find the life here redundant, except for the food. I now spend more time in front of the television. I'm happy to finally find the shows I usually watch on KBS World, like Oh My School and 2 Days 1 Night! They also show We Got Married and a lot of K-dramas. Yay!
Things I see everyday here. That white flower smells really nice! |
Oh and today's dinner was just crazy! The soup smelled like alcohol, and it turns out it really had wine in it! The dish was called Chicken Wine, which is basically chicken in wine, sesame oil and water. It's supposed to be good for the body as it is eaten by people who have just given birth. I couldn't touch the soup after finding out that the wine that Auntie used had 45% alcohol content. That's twice as deadly as soju!
Tomorrow, I will cook adobo and sinigang for them to try. Never has cooking felt so burdensome! >.< I will probably lock myself in the kitchen alone so they don't see me moving so slow and making mistakes! Wish me luck!
Tashy! Its TR! just talked to resa today which is how I found out that you're apparently in Taiwan for an Aiesec thing. Then as I was trying to ascertain where the heck you are in fb I found a link to this blog. Love it! The commentary is hilarious! haha I really enjoyed reading your entries :). Looking forward to your next post! Good luck with the adobo and sinigang! Make us proud :) Hope your having a blast! Im sure though its tiring work, the experience there will be endlessly rewarding! Miss you dear! Let's talk soon! Give my regards to the uncle and auntie :)
ReplyDeleteTR! I miss you! Will you be in Manila in July? The culture here is so similar to the Fil-Chi community! Ke-po and ma-chismis! HAHA a lot of the places I've been to are like Chinatown in Manila!
