Day 5-6: Weekends are busy at the farm!

Tea drinking, Karaoke, Packing tea leaves
This family is just into too many businesses. Aside from drinking/buying tea and picking fruits, customers can also sing using the karaoke machine and play with arcade games like basketball and the small rides for kids. Uncle does fortune telling using names and gives recommendations for name changing. Some people also order meals from them. And this is aside from the usual farm work like taking care of the fruit trees, bushes of tea leaves (in hectares of land) and the chickens! It's not even tea making season yet >.< There are just 4 people in this family and they don't have any helper. The 2 sons are usually out because of school/military duties/part time work. Weekends are even especially busy since it's when families have time to come out and play. And I thought it would be nice to retire in a tea farm!

Above: Tree Grapes | Below: Yang Mei Fruit
The yang mei fruit is starting to ripen and soon, lots of customers will come to pick them. I still don't understand why they're all crazy about them and why it's so expensive. They're pretty to look at when they're all ripe and red, it smells nice and I'm sure it has lots of Vitamin C, but it just tastes like pomelo without the skin, and less water content. Maybe I have yet to eat one that's fully ripe?

This family LOVES durian, and they let me try some last night (It was from Thailand though, boo!). I couldn't even remember the last time I ate it. When I go back, I'll try to find a way to send them a box of durian from the Philippines! I'm starting to get less awkward with the youngest brother as we've spent more time talking over the weekend. He also brought home yummy pastries when he came home yesterday~ The older brother hasn't been around much as he works at some steak house all day.

I'm starting to find the life here redundant, except for the food. I now spend more time in front of the television. I'm happy to finally find the shows I usually watch on KBS World, like Oh My School and 2 Days 1 Night! They also show We Got Married and a lot of K-dramas. Yay!

Things I see everyday here. That white flower smells really nice!

Oh and today's dinner was just crazy! The soup smelled like alcohol, and it turns out it really had wine in it! The dish was called Chicken Wine, which is basically chicken in wine, sesame oil and water. It's supposed to be good for the body as it is eaten by people who have just given birth. I couldn't touch the soup after finding out that the wine that Auntie used had 45% alcohol content. That's twice as deadly as soju!

Tomorrow, I will cook adobo and sinigang for them to try. Never has cooking felt so burdensome! >.< I will probably lock myself in the kitchen alone so they don't see me moving so slow and making mistakes! Wish me luck!
