Watching Auntie made me realize that I am not ready to be a housewife. She works super fast in the kitchen, makes the products they sell, attends to customers, rides the motorcycle well, and still finds time to attend all those classes and watch dramas at night. Oh, and she can also chase/kill/clean/chop a chicken in less than 15 minutes.
Auntie can cook really well. I wasn't sure what they were for, but I was happy to eat the excess that couldn't fit on the plates. The fried pork with yang mei fruit juice (similar to sweet and sour pork) was so good! I'm thinking of bringing home a bottle so I can experiment cooking with it too.
She made these stir fried spicy squid (or was it octopus?) and fish cooked with wine. I kept eating them, so I just stopped myself from getting more rice.
Sometimes, Auntie would ask some strange questions.
"If the person you love has cancer, would you still continue to love him?"
"Do your parents fight at home? What do you do when they fight?"
"Do you think Uncle loves Auntie?"
"Do you want to have a boyfriend?"
How does she expect me to answer those questions? It feels so awkward. AIGOO.
After dinner, I spent some (bonding) time with Uncle. We had a short English lesson as he asked me how to say so many things in English. After that, I tagged along with him to fetch little brother. Aside from more English words, we talked about almost everything that we saw along the way. He pointed out one of those stores where girls in sexy clothes sell betel nut. If Uncle hadn't said anything, I would think that they were selling massages, or maybe themselves. I've seen it on TV before, but I still find it disturbing. >.< It seems he's really worried about the wind and the rain because those would mean the yang mei fruits would be destroyed and that no customers will come over. He also bought mantou on the way home. It was my first time to try one that was made with brown sugar. It's really good, and I can still smell it on my fingers! :)
Let's see if I can bond with the little brother this weekend. ^^
P.S. I think I just got myself into trouble. Auntie was cooking pork skin, and I told her all about chicharon. Now she's curious about how it tastes like, so I told her I'll try to figure out how to make it. I found a recipe but it seems a lot more complicated than I thought. Can someone save me and send a pack of pork chicharon?
